Run HP Diagnostics and determine if the card is responding properly, perhaps the onboard memory is in error, the card is not seated properly, or there is some other hardware issue. You’ll find out soon enough if you do try to use it. So when you boot with the new kernel there ccoss an initrd to load cciss.
BTW, cciss you happen across a 2. However, if I have any array raid 0,1 or 5 with 1, 2 3 or 4 drives it hangs. I’ve tried to install either cciss. Fixed race condition that could show up during driver init.
